Selecting a school to enroll your child is an important decision to make. Howard State School has a long history of providing quality education in a safe and friendly learning environment. Your interest in enrolling your child at Howard State School is greatly appreciated.

All parents and carers are welcome to lodge an enrolment application on behalf of their child. Howard State School manages all enrolment applications in accordance with the school’s Enrolment Management Plan (EMP).

Howard State School’s catchment map defines the geographical area from which it is to have its core intake of students. The catchment map is available from EdMap.

Please review the Enrolment Management Plan (EMP) prior to lodging an enrolment application. If you require any assistance, please contact the office on 4193 2333.

Parents or legal guardians who wish to enrol their child at Howard State School are required to provide evidence of the student’s principle place of residence. Current proof of residency at the address indicated on the enrolment documentation can be provided by way of one of each of the following:

  • One primary source – a current rental/lease agreement, or rates notice, or unconditional contract of sale; and
  • One secondary source – a utility bill (e.g. electricity, gas) showing this same address and parent’s/legal guardian’s name.

Enrolment Procedure

  1. Complete an Application for student enrolment form (PDF, 728KB) or collect an enrolment package from the office
  2. Gather proof of residency and any other required documentation (such as birth certificate if this is your child’s first time enrolling in a Queensland State School)
  3. Lodge the completed Application for student enrolment form (PDF, 728KB)and proof of residency documentation to the office (in person or via email at admin@howardss.eq.edu.au)

Prep Enrolments

To determine when your child can commence their Prep year, use the online calculator
Prep enrolments can be provided to the office any time in the year prior to your child starting school. We encourage all enrolments to be submitted by the start of term 3 in the year prior to your child starting Prep.

Get Set for Prep

Howard State School believes that the first year of schooling is vital. Get Set for Prep aims to provide parents and children with the best possible start to school. All parents and carers of Prep students are encouraged to participate in our Get Set for Prep program.
We have created the book 'At my school' (PDF, 1.4MB) to help children and families build their understanding the things that students will see and hear at Howard SS.
