What is Instrumental Music Online (IMOL)?
The Instrumental Music Online (IMOL) Program is available to students in Years 4 to Year 6 and provides an opportunity for the musical development of students through learning to play a musical instrument.
Weekly online group instrumental music lessons are delivered by a specialised instrumental music teacher. Throughout the year students will perform to their peers and at the school assembly.
For more information, please refer to the Instrumental Music Handbook.
What musical instruments are offered?
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Baritone
Musical instruments are offered to students under the guidance of the instrumental music teacher through a process of matching an instrument with the attributes, skills and abilities of each student.
Recruitment Process
Each year, in Term 4, all students in Year 3 – 5 are provided with an opportunity to express an interest to participate in the IMOL Program. Parents and carers are required to complete and return an expression of interest form to the office.
The instrumental music teacher will undertake an assessment process with each student to assess student suitability to participate in the IMOL program. Participation in the IMOL program is limited.
If you enrol at Howard State School during the year and you were in a similar instrumental music program at your previous school, please let us know during the enrolment process.
IMOL Fees
Participating in the IMOL program requires the payment of a fee. These costs are outlined to parents at the start of each year and include an instrument hire and participation fee as well as an instrument tutor book and instrument-specific accessories.
The school will invoice each student once all the required IMOL Program forms have been completed and returned to the office. Payment plans can be organised by contacting the school office.
